Melamine Found in Dog and Cat Food

The FDA has issued another list of tainted dog and cat food, this time with melamine, a chemical used in manufacturing plastics, and sometimes used as a nitrogen-rich fertilizer.

The theory is that it was used to fake higher protein levels in wheat gluten, corn gluten, and rice protein concentrate. The source is (unfortunately) once again China, and the FDA is now sampling both rice protein and wheat gluten being imported from China. The affected corn gluten was found in South Africa.

I have listed a few comprehensive articles below that pretty much cover the details.

theory is that it was added to fake higher protein levels.

Our Puppy Contract - New for 2007

Our new Puppy Contract has been posted. I have decided (for now) to keep the Guarantee and Spay/Neuter Contract separate, as the conditions for spay/neuter will vary by dog.

We have added a few provisions for training and socialization , as well as a Surrender clause which covers what should be considered standard care for any pet or animal.

You will find the full contract by following the link in the first paragraph, or the link in the right-hand column under "Puppy Information".

Our Switch to the Raw/BARF Diet

I have recently added a page to the website concerning our switch to a raw/BARF diet. I do highly recommend a raw/BARF diet and will eventually post my basic guidelines, but for now I will only recommend that you to do some research on your own.

If feeding raw meat is too gross for you, you should still consider a homemade diet, one that is low in grains and contains raw vegetables. Raw foods contain valuable enzymes that are killed during cooking and processing.

I will post additional recommendations shortly.

Available Female

I have recently added a female from our "C" litter to the Available Adults page of our website. Her name is Abbey and she is already spayed and current on vaccinations. She needs a home with a clear, fair, and strong leader.

Her current trainer is recommending her for obedience or agility trials, as she is intelligent and easily trained.

If you believe you can provide a proper performance home with no small children, please call or email me for addition information. After screening, I will connect you with her trainer.
